One of the great pleasures I have had in my career is having the opportunity to get to know some of the greatest private investigators of our times. When it comes to King of surveillance as it relates to insurance fraud investigation, the man of this century is Bill Kirorek.

Mr. Kizorek's corporate office is in Naperville Illinois but his enterprise is truly national in scope. His internationally known company, InPhoto Surveillance, owns specially equipped surveillance vans that can reach any major city in the United States within hours. They are all over the country. His investigators go through intensive training.

If I was a little younger and wanted to obtain expertize in surveillance of worker's compensation fraud, I'd want to work for Bill Kizorek. (Actually it's not a bad idea to see if they are hiring) InPhoto has the best equipment. Not only are the surveillance vans all decked out, the home office is buzzing with high tech computer technology (Apple Of Course) and Inphoto has the ability to digitize surveillance footage, enhance frames and imbed frames into surveillance reports. Individual investigators for Inphoto always have the best van, best cameras, best lenses, best word processing equipment, best computer programs and best training. There isn't any doubt about it. If I wanted to work in surveillance claims investigation, I'd want to be with the best and the best is InPhoto.

Mr. Kizorek himself is known not nationally but internationally by the insurance industry as one of the world's leading authorities on the subject of insurance fraud and video surveillance. He's an extremely popular speaker as SIU groups within the insurance industry. That is, if the group is lucky enough to get Bill booked. He's just a busy man.

Here are 13 flags which, if present in multiples, may indicate a claim situation begging for closer scrutiny.

• 1. Claimant is never home to answer the phone or is "sleeping and

• 3. Leads from co-workers that subject is active in sports, other work
• etc.

• 4. Rehab report shows claimant appears to be healthy.

• 5. Subject in line for "early retirement."

• 6. No present organic basis for disability.
• 
  
• 7. Claimant receives mail at a post office box and will not divulge
• residence address.

• 8. Claimant has a history of self-employment or is a tradesman.
• 
  
• 9. Claimant has moved out of state or country.
• 
  
• 10. Excessive demands for compensation.
• 
  
• 11. Disability beyond that normally associated with claimed injury.
• 
  
• 12. A history of malingering by the same claimant.
• 
  
• 13. "Dueling Doctors," one says claimant is disabled, the other says
• the opposite.

NAIS was lucky enough to get Mr. Kizorek to speak at an NAIS convention that was held in Florida a few years ago. Those who missed his presentation which one an award titled HOW TO STAY OUT OF TROUBLE ON A SURVEILLANCE is encouraged to read his books. He's a very busy person and it might be awhile before NAIS will be able to get Mr. Kizorek back as a featured convention speaker.

In 1995 Mr. Kizorek was issued the first NAIS Expert Certification in Insurance Surveillance.
So NAIS Certified Certificate Number One For Insurance Surveillance goes to the number one expert on the subject in the world.

I have to admit that I have become a big Bill Kizorek and InPhoto Surveillance fan. I devower his books when they come out and I'm always excited about them.
