Well, Twitter (X) has started to roll out Audio/Video calls that you can make or people can make to you from the Twitter app. Which is an interesting change for Twitter (X), but according to privacy experts, this feature can reveal your IP number. If someone is able to get your IP number, they could also track down your location without you knowing about it. So, lets talk about how you can prevent this from happening. The best way is to disable to Audio/Video calls on your Twitter(X) account(s). Also, if you have more than one Twitter(X) account, you will need to do this on each account. Again, if you really are going to make audio or video calls from your Twitter(X) account then you need to leave it enabled, but until then, disable it for your privacy and security.
Open up your Twitter(X) app, and tap your profile and then choose Settings & Support, then you will see Settings and privacy, tap that.
From this menu, tap Privacy and safety. Once you do this you will now go to the next menu.
Now on this menu, you will see towards the bottom, Direct Messages, go ahead and tap on this.
Now your on the important menu, here you want to tap on the button for Enable audio and video recording. Once you tap on it, you will disable the function and the button will be grayed out.
As you can see from the above image, the ability to call is disabled, but for good measure, I like to turn off the Send read receipts option as well. Again, just tap the blue button and it will be grayed out as well.
That is all you need to do in order to disable the audio/video calling features. Again, if you want to start making audio or video calls with Twitter(X), then just go back and turn it back on. But, remember your IP will not be protected.
